The Halo Effect

Are you exhibiting the halo effect?

Do you buy products because of the celebrity representing it? Or stay in a relationship that is wrong because of one good quality?

We are all attracted to people all the time. What attracts us to others? And what attracts you?

When you meet someone for the first time you draw a conclusion about them, subconsciously you decide whether you like them or not. BUT is it possible that one trait or aspect of one's character can influence your perception about them?

Honestly, I judge a person's character based on their physical appearance, its a quick judgment that is very likely inaccurate. The good thing is that once I begin to have a conversation, I realize there's more to the person than just physical looks. (Well that's for those that are actually more than their looks).

The halo effect can cloud our judgment even when we know about it. When one good quality spills its appeal unto other elements of a person's character; the halo effect is in action...

Ask yourself before you make a judgment about a person (good or bad) is the halo effect in action?

P.S: Do you know who doesn't exhibit the halo effect? God!!!

With love, theInspiredCutiee 😘

Emma Gonzalez

I am usually all for honesty; I wrote this piece for one the blogs I feature in, but apparently it couldn’t fly because it didn’t centre on an African, (which is good, we got to celebrate Africa). ‘No worries', I said to myself, 'I wrote it, Emma Gonzalez inspires me, so, ama share it here'… While valentine’s festivities for the year was in the air, students of Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida were experiencing the most memorable days of their youthful lives; a fellow student of the above named school went on a rage and killed seventeen people. Seventeen lives were lost because one unstable person had his hands on a weapon of destruction. This event is not just a traumatic one for those involved, but more of an uproar; come on, its rational for anyone in this situation to be livid. Having seen clips of the incident, watched the town hall meeting aired by CNN, read tributes, speeches, and the ever trending hashtags #WeCallBS #NotAgain, it’s amazi...

Ta-Da!

Hey there! Been a while right? Probably more than a while, feels like an abandonment… Apologies… but *silent drum rolls* I’m back, and back with a bang! So, this is the Comeback post of the Inspired Cutiee! Why was I MIA? What happened? It would be clichéd to say ‘Long story’ because the story is not that long, (honestly) it was a fusion of procrastination, laziness, clogged mind, more procrastination, drive for ‘the perfect post’ and most of all… lack of inspiration. But, let’s hope that’s all in the past. Sigh, yes, I know I make a lot of promises, (this is not a new year’s resolution; been there, done that mehn) but this one has to be kept. The goal therefore is to schedule posts, so even when I run of out inspiration, there’ll always be something here. Not bad right? Speaking of what happened, I should add; it’s not like I stopped writing in its entirety, I mean I wrote and still write for other blogs, my office’s social media and blogsite, WhatsApp stories, ...
I like to meet people who inspire me.. One of them is Abraham, in the HR department of Jumia. I messaged him a while back via LinkedIn and asked if there were any available positions in the HR department and he said the was only a vacancy for an intern and I went for an interview. That day on my way for the interview, I witnessed some lady get crushed by a vehicle on Ikorodu road. I was mortified and then began to reflect on my life. It could have been anyone I said.. What if she was going to work? Or had an interview like me? Anyways not to digress, lol, I wasn't feeling so up to the interview, I even got there late, in my mind I was like 'oh well what ever happens happens'. Then I got to meet him, honestly I'll rate myself a 3 for that interview because I didn't even try to impress. *covers face* But the reason for this post is the young man who interviewed me.. He said somethings about his personality that gave me a whole perspective on who I want to be. ...
