If you haven't figured I'm a series fan by now, well I guess that's not your fault. lol. I LOVE SERIES, movies are to mainstream, hehe (have you wondered why there now seems to be a sequel in many movies?)
Anyways apparently I carried last (covers face) by not knowing "Being Mary Jane" season 3 was out, I sharply downloaded the episodes I missed, (spoiler alert: Lisa died). Everyone is going through something, it might not seem like a big deal to you, but it does to the person going through such.
Everyday, we message people with the question; in fact it has become a greeting: "How are you?" and the usual response is "I'm fine" (I usually type I'm aii (short for alright) lol). I have an aunt who says "I know you are fine, I'm asking how you are doing?". lol. yeah she does it every time.
In episode 3 (season 3) of "Being Mary Jane" titled "Ugly Truth", many of us are really not "fine". Mary Jane said she asked Lisa a thousand times "How are you??" but she never wanted to hear her truth.
I remember a sermon I heard many years ago, the preacher was buttressing on being truly concerned, he was like whenever we ask "how are you"? be really concerned. You know what happened a week after he said that message? I saw him and he asked me "how are you?" I said "I'm fine" and he was like "okay, bye". Now I'm not judging him or anything, he probably had a lot on his plate that day. lol and I'm also not saying yeah everyone who asks you "how are you"? you should now begin to pour out your troubles on them. The saying "a problem shared is a problem half solved, doesn't mean tell everyone your problem.
I'll suggest these though:
Firstly; you have Jesus (there's not a friend like him, he knows all about your struggles), next stay close to a friend or group of friends; good and positive ones, not one that would tell you that "what do you even know" or "caaman shut up, life is hard for everyone" or (the one I'm sick of hearing) "depression is not for black people". And also have a source of inspiration; perhaps a tv show or a book, even the Bible.
Please be truly concerned about your friends or family members, everyone is living behind some make up, pictures lie too. I pray for grace to be able to cope with life's challenges and also be able to reach out.
My condolences go out to the family of the Enugu corper who died, lots of skeptical reports on the cause of death. May the soul of the departed rest in peace. Amen.
